Overview

Nestled in the heart of Santa Fe at 311 Old Santa Fe Trail, Zeng offers a compelling dive into authentic Chinese cuisine with a particular nod to Sichuan flavors and handmade specialties. This restaurant stands out, not just for its food, but also for an inviting atmosphere that combines spacious indoor and outdoor seating with a modern, thoughtfully designed setting. The ambiance sets the tone for both intimate dinners and casual group outings, making it a versatile choice for those seeking Chinese fare in New Mexico.

Zeng’s menu is a rich tapestry of traditional and regional Chinese dishes, featuring standout items like the crispy yet tender Sesame Chicken White-Meat, delicate soup pork buns, and the ever-popular Singapore Noodles. The array of dim sum, including shrimp and chive dumplings and fried sesame balls, showcases the kitchen’s dedication to fresh, handmade craftsmanship—visible right in the open kitchen where the dumplings are masterfully prepared.

For lovers of Sichuan cuisine, Zeng delivers with signature dishes like the intensely flavorful Sichuan Spicy Boiled Fish and Sichuan Kung Pao Shrimp. These dishes balance heat and depth, clearly inviting diners who appreciate bold, layered spice without losing nuance or freshness. The presence of sizzling lamb and beef options, alongside stir-fried vegetables, seafood, and tofu, adds variety that caters to diverse palates and dietary preferences.

The blend of reliable service, spot-on timing, and thoughtful allergy awareness creates a relaxed environment where guests can enjoy their meal confidently.

What also sets Zeng apart is a charming nod to innovation: an adorable robot server enhances the dining experience without overshadowing the human warmth and personal touches that define the service. This blend of tradition and modernity encapsulates the restaurant's ethos perfectly.

Parking can be conveniently managed via a nearby hotel lot with a complimentary pass during daytime hours, while evening diners can utilize an adjacent lot, making arrival and departure smooth for visitors.

I'm always a big fan of Szechuan food. But I’ve got to admit that it is quite difficult to find good Szechuan food even in a big city. I walked past Zeng a few times before but didn't try it since I didn't know they had Szechuan food until recently. I ordered 172 (something like dried chili chicken), 179 (~boiled fish in hot chili oil), and crab rangoon on my first visit. Wow, the first two dishes were so tasty (crab rangoon not really). Today was my third visit, and I still ordered the same two dishes. They changed the vegetables added in those two dishes, but they were still tasty. The restaurant is well decorated and quite spacious with both indoor and outdoor seatings. As for parking, I parked at a hotel (El Sendero Inn) lot and asked the front desk for the free parking pass without a problem (heard that I could park there until 5 PM). I haven't been there for dinner, but someone told me the parking lot across the street is available after 5 PM.

Major shout out to Zeng you guys are truly setting the bar for excellence when it comes to awesome Chinese food I would never have expected to eat the best Chinese food in my life in Santa Fe New Mexico. This place was so charming. The food was so delicious and they had this absolutely fascinating little robot server. Our table each ordered a different dish and then we split those dishes for ways so we got to try a lot of the food that Zeng has to offer and let me tell you everything was absolutely delicious so if you’re visiting in the Santa Fe, New Mexico area I highly recommend going here

DELICIOUS! I found this place on tiktok and am so glad I did! The restaurant itself is beautiful, and the staff did a great job at providing quality service. We mainly went for dumplings so that's all we tried, and we were not disappointed. Wow, they were some of the best we've ever had!! They're made from scratch and you can see them being made on the corner of the restaurant. We got the chicken/mushroom, veggie, and spicy shrimp. All were fantastic!! Oh and the best part? You're served by an adorable little robot! I would come back to visit Santa Fe just for this restaurant.

My favorite restaurant ever, I’m so serious. We came here for dinner one night and we decided to come every single time we’re in Santa Fe. Staff is amazing, especially. Music is a good volume and it’s usually close to empty, so it’s perfect for talking. Food is served on time, allergies are labeled and accommodated for. As someone with celiac, and another with a nut allergy, they’re very good about food safety and contamination. They have a huge variety of dishes, seafood is fresh and they aren’t stingy with the amount of pieces they put on the food. Please come here and support them, I need this place everywhere I go. Thank you guys for an amazing experience!

I never would have expected to find the best Chinese food I’ve ever eaten, in Santa Fe, but that’s just what happened. From the dumpling sauce to the flavors in both dishes we ordered, it far exceeded anything I’ve even had anywhere else. Just be careful of the heat index. The two chillis symbol on the menu was very hot, and I like hot food, so just be careful.

We had a wonderful experience here! We ordered Singapore fried rice noodles, chicken dumplings, and vegetable fried rice – everything was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. The dishes were fresh, well-cooked, and very satisfying. The staff were also very welcoming, attentive, and friendly, which made the dining experience even better

We had a good dinner. Got to watch them make dumplings. The food overall was good. We had all the normal stuff, noodles, dumplings, chicken, etc. unfortunately we were starving and the food was good so no pictures of the food just empty plates. The staff was very friendly. The only thing that took away from our experience was the table that let their kids run wild all over the patio and jump over empty tables and the patio wall.
